A small reminder about the 300 anniversary banner. Greg Lynch and I appreciate the positive reaction and thanks to all of you for your initial orders. In the future any orders received by me during a month will be produced and shipped the first week of the next month. I have two orders in house and any received by Friday, April 6th will go out next week. Next orders will go out the 2nd week of May….
I am sending Peter and Anne a visual to put on the web site under heading “300 th Anniversary of Blessed Junipero Serra” letting folks know of its availability. Of course “word of mouth” is good as well….
The price is $100.00 per banner with a Club name and includes shipping. A sizeable amount of the $100.00 ($50-60) depending on shipping costs go to the Anniversary committee of Greg Lynch, Dan Jones, Chuck Furr, Tim O’Neill, Bob Goldsmith (and others ???) to help defray expenses for a proper celebration honoring Blessed Junipero Serra next year in Spain ….. check with Greg Lynch on details.
I would suggest you buy a banner, if you have not already, and show it at your SPLC and encourage Clubs and members to purchase….remember this is in honor of Blessed Junipero Serra….our best.

Learn MoreThe Mission Play by John McGroarty was an immensely popular play during the early 1900′s. It told the story of Blessed Junipero Serra and the founding of the missions. The play was so popular that they built a special theater in which to perform the play. The Mission Playhouse in San Gabriel is that playhouse and this is a short video about the history of the theater.
Learn MoreTo: All Serrans
From: Greg Lynch
Blessed Serra was born on November 24,173 in Petra, Majorca. Majorca is a small Spanish island (part of the Balearic Islands) in the Mediterranean Sea just South of Spain. Father Serra died on August 24, 1784 in Carmel, California. Blessed Serra’s Feast Day is July 1 in the United States. Blessed Serra is buried in the altar area at the Carmel Mission. Blessed Serra has been beatified but not canonized.
The celebration of Blessed Serra’s birth gives the Serra organization an opportunity to honor our namesake and spiritual mentor and to increase the awarenss of Serra to non-Serrans.
On June 5, 2011, the USAC Board of Directors approved a resolution to plan and develop events to do this. At the SI Ottawa Convention in July, 2011 President Thomas Wong formed a committee to plan the celebration.
We envision raising all the funds to do this.
Learn MoreOn July 27, 2011, Greg Lynch traveled to Los Angeles in one of his first jobs as a member of the Majorca 2013 committee. The goal of the journey was to visit with prominent church leaders to talk about the goals and aspirations of Majorca 2013 and to enlist their aid in the upcoming activities.
The first stop was with Monsignor Weber at the San Fernando Mission in San Fernando California. Monsignor Weber is arguably the foremost authority on Blessed Father Serra and his works. He has written almost a hundred books over the past fifty years and is the archivist for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
